Clear Communication Only Sounds Easy

If clear communication truly was easy, none of us would feel dread when writing a report, posting content to a web site, organizing a presentation, joining a public discussion, or creating promotional or informational materials.

We wouldn't feel frustrated, confused, or skeptical when reading or hearing what others have to say.

The truth is, communication is one of the most challenging tasks for any person or organization. It becomes even more daunting when you realize that most of what you've learned about communication -- especially writing -- is WRONG!

This is where I can help...

My mission is to help you (or your organization) raise a clear and effective voice in the public conversation, through discussion and publishing. Even better, you'll learn how to do this in a way that is comfortable, affordable, and fun. We'll also make it easier for your target audience to find you when they need you, and understand what you have to offer.

I've helped organizations such as Eastman Kodak, the United Nations Food & Agriculture Organization, and the National Governors Association get through to the people they most need to reach.

Here's how I can help you do the same.

Through my speaking, training, and consulting services, I can help you:

  • Understand your target audience well, because communication only succeeds when the people you need to reach can hear, relate to, and understand you.
  • Choose the best communication channels and formats for reaching your target audience. This means identifying which types of communication best suit your goals and your audience's needs -- regardless of what's "typical," "traditional," or "hot."
  • Tune in to the parts of the public conversation that are most relevant to you and your target audience. Knowing what people are saying about you, your field, and your issues enhances your decisionmaking. These days, that's crucial for staying ahead of the curve.
  • Develop an authentic and appropriate "voice" to use when publishing or participating in the public conversation. Your target audience should relate to your voice easily, without the barriers of confusion, dissonance, annoyance, or boredom.
  • Find your ideal editorial process so the processes of communicating or publishing become simpler and more energizing. Crafting excellent communication should be something you enjoy.
  • Devise a content strategy that is effective, sustainable, and adaptable over the long term, whether for a specific project or for all your communications. Staying involved in the public conversation shouldn't be a chore or a drain.
  • Craft your content with professional writing, editing, course development, and reporting services.

I'll help you achieve your goals for communication and publishing More importantly, I'll give you the skills to keep achieving those goals reliably and cost-effectively.

Whether you're global corporation, a mid-sized nonprofit, or an independent professional, there's an easier and better way to get your message across. I'll help you find it.
